A global pandemic, nationwide protests, the most tumultuous election of our lifetime. The 2019-2020 academic year was like nothing young people have ever experienced. Yet in the midst of all this uncertainty, IGNITE women across America flexed their political power with urgency and conviction.
IGNITE women are super voters - 98% vote and they register their communities at three times the rate of their peers. That’s why we launched #IGNITEtheVote in partnership with Levi Strauss & Co. The campaign leveraged the mobilizing power of IGNITE women across America to help their peers cast a ballot in what promised to be the most confusing election of our lifetime. #IGNITEtheVote reached 6.5 million young people and over 50,000 Americans sought out voting resources from IGNITE.
IGNITE young women are at the forefront of the most important movements of our time. They're organizing their communities and leading rallies, marches, and protests across America.
IGNITE participants were trained to analyze and advocate for over 40 pieces of personally relevant legislation at the local, state, and national level, with a special focus on women’s rights, civic education, and voting.
IGNITE women spent on average 40 hours working and volunteering on the 2020 elections, including leading campaigns. We hosted boot camps preparing young women for campaign management and connecting them with jobs during the election season.
During the 2019-2020 fiscal year, dozens of young women in the IGNITE community ran for office and several more have already announced their candidacy for 2021 municipal races across the country.
IGNITE trained 7,000 young women from 36 states - from Alaska to Iowa to Tennessee.
250 IGNITE women advocated for over 40 pieces of legislation in six states and at the federal level.
When IGNITE pivoted to online training in March, the number of women we trained increased by 200%.
200 young women joined IGNITE’s Boss Ladies campaign staffer boot camps, and 85% of them worked on 2020 campaigns.
IGNITE built and ran 200 high school and college chapters across the country.
IGNITE program participants represent the diversity of America.
IGNITE grew during the 2019-2020 fiscal year, thanks to our incredible supporters.
Now more than ever, IGNITE thanks our community of supporters for their steadfast commitment to ensuring that young women own their political power.
